Bollywood actress Kiara Advani is having a great professional year thanks to the success of her two recent films, JugJugg Jeeyo (2022) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022), which attracted large crowds to the theatre. In the past, the actress has also delivered performances in other successful films like Shershaah (2021) with Sidharth Malhotra and Kabir Singh (2019) with Shahid Kapoor. Kiara and Shahid, on the other hand, got a lot of criticism for the misogynistic and toxic tendencies that their respective characters in Kabir Singh promoted.
Kiara Advani, particularly faced a lot of backlash for her character Preeti Sikka in the film. She portrayed a small town girl who tolerated Kabir’s (Shahid) toxic masculinity and his problematic behavior. Now, in an interview, the Fugly (2014) actress opened up about the same. She stated that being versatile is important for actors. She further said that she didn't believe she could let any grey characters be affected by her judgments.
Advani was quoted saying, “If I play a murderer in my next movie, does that make me one? It's hypocritical to praise actors who otherwise play a grey shade and then criticise them when they play a grey shade of a regular character.”
She concluded by stating, "Love has always been perfect and aspirational for Bollywood. The only thing that will lead you to forgiveness is love. So, in a nutshell that's Kabir Singh for those who resonated with the film and me.”
On the work front, Kiara Advani will be next seen in Govinda Naam Mera and RC-15.
