Karan Johar has slammed those who are only familiar with one type of cinema but want to make films for a living. To familiarise oneself with various styles and forms of filmmaking, he believes that one should watch films in every language spoken in India and around the world.

He further added “ I think it’s not a prerequisite that you are an avid viewer. Like, I don’t have to do something 3000 times for me to do it well once. But I feel if you’ve not watched the great masters of the great storytellers across the nation and the world, how can you say ‘I want to be a director?’ What is your knowledge? What have you learned?

Johar stated that one does not need to attend a film school because hopeful filmmakers now have enough opportunities to tutor themselves if they are genuinely enthusiastic about it. He also says that “I judge talent shows in which people have self-taught dance, all kinds of acrobatics. Self-teaching is also a big phenomenon today. You can teach yourself anything you want to if you are passionate about it.”

Karan Johar will be directing the film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. We will see Karan Johar directing after 6 years.
