Karan Johar returns with the seventh edition of his famous talk show Koffee with Karan. The host is again ready to show the world how witty and quirky his show is. As we wait for the seventh season premiere, some of the guest pairings to appear on the show are Tiger Shroff-Kriti Sanon, Kabir Singh co-stars Kiara Advani-Shahid Kapoor, Juggjugg Jeeyo stars Anil Kapoor-Varun Dhawan. Some of the south stars are set to make their debut on the couch which includes Samantha Prabhu who will appear with Akshay Kumar and the Liger star Vijay Devarkonda along with Ananya Panday. And now, ahead of the premiere, KJo has spoken out against the hatred directed at both his well-known chat show, Koffee with Karan, and the whole Bollywood industry.
The filmmaker said, “There was a lot of social media hate generally towards Bollywood at one point, and Koffee with Karan popped up as one of the targets… But I knew even then that this is all virtual, it’s not real. It’s not really the truth because had it been why would Disney+ Hotstar want to do the show? Why would actors want to come on the show? Why would I be still interested in doing it? I think we were all aligned. And that’s why we realized that all that negative banter was just that — it was a mirage. It didn’t really exist. None at all.”
Further questioning the hate that Bollywood receives he asked, “How can you suddenly start hating Bollywood, something you have loved for over 100 years?” He said that the bad wave never troubled him since he knew it would pass. The director noted that the movies are now performing well in theatres. He claimed that people's own frustrations and rages are the only sources of hate. He expressed his wish for the anonymous, faceless trolls that the hate and negativity they propagate would come back to haunt them.
Meanwhile, the very first episode of Koffee with Karan will premiere today on Disney+ Hotstar. The very first episode will feature Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh as guests.
