Karan Johar says that he is bringing back the same world of KKHH with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani

Karan Johar is currently working on his next film, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. This will be his first film as a director in 6 years, as his last was Ae Dil Hain Mushkil in 2016, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Fawad Khan. Fans are looking forward to seeing Alia and Ranveer work together on the big screen for the second time after Gully Boy. In the midst of all of this, Karan recently announced that the world of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is so very related to his 1998 film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, which defined his directorial debut.

Karan recently stated that if he was still to make his debut film in 2022, he would make something equal to Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, which featured Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji. Karan commented, “I did go through phases of evolution as a filmmaker. But right during the pandemic, I felt I just needed to make a movie that made me feel like I was 25 again. And when I was 25, the only movie I could think of or make was Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, because it was like an accumulation of all the movies that I had grown up watching. It’s a homage to Raj Kapoor, Yash Chopra, Sooraj Barjatya.”

During the pandemic, Karan felt compelled to return to 'quintessential Bollywood,' which displayed a lot of drama, songs, dance sequences, and theatrics.

Although the worlds of KKHH and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani are not identical, there are some similarities. In response, Karan stated, “It is a love story, it has a family. It has Ranveer, Alia, senior members of the fraternity, Jaya ji, Shabana ji, and Dharmendra ji in the movie. I’m going back to the same world.”
