Kapil Sharma signs up to star in Nandita Das’ next directorial

Currently busy hosting The Kapil Sharma Show, the actor-comedian is also gearing up to make his digital debut with a high-profile streaming show.

One of the most loved stand-up comedians in the world, Kapil Sharma has taken up a new acting assignment. The actor-comedian, who debuted on the silver screen with Abbas-Mustan’s comic-caper Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon (2016) and followed it up with Rajiv Dhingra’s Firangi, will headline Nandita Das’ next directorial venture. The two have been in talks for a while and are excited to collaborate with each other on the untitled film.

Sharing more details, a source in the know informs a publication, “Nandita and Kapil are both excited to collaborate on this project. They come from very different worlds so surely something magical is brewing. They are both looking forward to working with each other and pushing their own boundaries. They will work out on the dates and other logistics once the final paperwork is done.”

The source goes on to add that Das will co-produce the upcoming film with Applause Entertainment, spearheaded by Sameer Nair. The actress-turned-filmmaker last helmed the critically acclaimed biographical drama Manto (2018), starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Rasika Dugal, and Rajshri Deshpande.

Meanwhile, Kapil Sharma is presently busy hosting his hit stand-up comedy and talk show The Kapil Sharma Show. Buzz has it that Sony Entertainment Television has given a six-month extension to the show. Sharma is also set to make his digital debut soon.
