The 68th National Film Awards were announced on Friday, and it was a big day for Kajol and Ajay Devgn as their film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior took home three awards. Along with Tanhaji winning the National Film Award for Best Popular Film and Best Costume Design, Ajay received the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture.
Kajol, who essayed the character of Tanhaji’s wife in the film, took to Instagram and shared a note of gratitude. Sharing a BTS picture from the film’s set, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) actress wrote, "Team Tanhaji wins 3 national awards. So happy and proud ! Best Actor ajaydevgn Best Popular film providing Wholesome Entertainment
Following Zakhm (1998) and The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002), this is Ajay Devgn's third victory in the Best Actor category.
Devgn received the Best Actor Award along with South Indian icon Suriya, who won for his performance in the film Soorarai Pottru (2020). Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which was directed by Om Raut and starring Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, and Kajol, received critical acclaim from viewers.
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn is currently working on Drishyam 2, which will be released in theatres on November 18. The film, which also stars Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Shriya Saran, and Akshaye Khanna, is being helmed by Abhishek Pathak.
