In a recent interview, Shahid Kapoor talked about the reaction against his hit movie 'Kabir Singh,' which was criticised for supposedly praising abusive behaviour. The star, who said he had been beaten as a child, said he understood why people were worried about the movie. Shahid related the character of Kabir Singh to well-known movie characters like Taxi Driver and Scarface. He said that Kabir Singh was just the main character of the movie, not a hero or an anti-hero, and he talked about how strong Kiara Advani's character, Preeti, was.

Shahid Kapoor made it clear that he is nothing like the role of Kabir Singh in real life. He said that because of how his mother raised him, he doesn't drink, puts his family first, and would never hit a woman. But as an actor, he thinks it is his job to play different kinds of people, even if they are not likeable. He said that the audience should like him as an actor even if they don't like the roles he plays.

Shahid Kapoor didn't like how some fans of the movie thought they were better than everyone else. He said that he doesn't like people who think their ideas are the only right ones and don't care about what other people want. He found it hard to believe that some people wouldn't admit that the movie was popular even though they didn't like it. He thought that people like that had a sense of superiority and were out of touch with reality. They also didn't understand how the public would react to them.

The star ended by saying that everyone, even people who are thought to be bad, deserves a second chance. He said that Kabir Singh was not shown as a good person in the movie, and that the story showed many things about life, including its flaws. Shahid Kapoor said that it's important to be open to different points of view and realise that success depends on how the crowd reacts. 'Kabir Singh,' which was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and made over Rs 350 crore worldwide, was Shahid's highest-grossing movie as a lead.
