Javed Akhtar on cancel culture

Javed Akhtar has spoken up about the cancel culture with boycott trends on the internet. The veteran screenwriter at the red card of the Filmfare awards with his wife Shabana Azmi and said that these trends were just a ‘passing phase’.

Javed Akhtar’s shared that “It is a passing phase. It is very evident that it doesn’t work. If the film is good and is appreciated by the audience, it will work. If it is not good and not appreciated by the audience, it won’t work. I don’t think this kind of announcement of cancel culture and boycott works at all.”

What went down

Bollywood is currently facing major backlash from the masses. Trolls on the internet are mercilessly boycotting films and celebrities. Unfortunately, Aamir Khan was a recent victim with his film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’. Along similar lines, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ and Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Liger’ did not perform as expected at the Box Office.
