Ishaan Khattar and Mrunal Thakur’s ‘Pippa’ To NOT Release On OTT platforms; Makers Issue Official Statement

According to rumours on Thursday, the movie ‘Pippa’, which is based on the battle of 1971, will be released digitally since the multiplex owners aren't happy with it. However, producers Ronnie Screwvala, Siddharth Roy Kapur, and Kamal Gianchandani of PVR Inox, who also represents the Multiplex Association of India (MAI), released a joint statement on the subject on Friday.

‘Pippa,’ directed by Raja Krishna Menon and starring Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur, and Priyanshu Painyuli, will debut in theatres rather than on any OTT service, according to a statement from the producers.

Here’s What The Producers Statement Says:

The statement stated: “This is in regard to an article that appeared in a newspaper publication yesterday with the headline ‘Pipped for an OTT release’ which made some completely unsubstantiated assertions about supposed issues between the producers of PIPPA and multiplex operators, causing PIPPA to allegedly opt for an OTT release. Neither the producers nor any multiplex operators were approached for comment before the publication of this article.”

In the statement, producers Kamal Gianchandani, Siddharth Roy Kapur, and Ronnie Screwvala also clarify that RSVP and Roy Kapur Productions have no current disputes with cinema owners. It further stated, “Any rumours or articles suggesting otherwise are baseless and unfounded. We are all committed to working together to bring quality content to audiences in cinemas across India. Pippa is a film that has been made for the big screen and an official announcement about the release date will be made soon.”
