There have been rumors about a sequel since Kapoor got a buzz cut, which is similar to the haircut he had in 'Haider'. However, Bhardwaj has clarified that there are no plans for a sequel at this time.
The filmmaker also said that Shahid's haircut should not be misunderstood as a hint of a sequel. He said, "Shahid ne Baal kata liye, iska yeh matlab thodi Haider 2 ho jayegi (Shahid did a haircut doesn’t mean that 'Haider 2' is happening)."
Bhardwaj also explained that making a sequel to 'Haider' doesn't make sense because the situation in Kashmir has changed since the film was released.
"I'm glad that people still remember the first part of Haider. However, since Haider was closely tied to Kashmir, and I don't have a new story to tell about Kashmir at the moment, making Haider 2 doesn't seem necessary right now," he said.
'Haider' is a contemporary adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet and is set in Kashmir. The film was critically acclaimed and won several awards, including the National Film Award for Best Film.
Bhardwaj's latest film, 'Khufiya', was released on Netflix on October 5. The film is a spy thriller starring Tabu, Ali Fazal, and Ashish Vidyarthi.
