International Emmy Awards 2023: ‘THESE’ Actors Get Nominated For The Prestigious Award!

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences unveiled the nominations for the 2023 International Emmy Awards on Monday night. Three Indian actors, including Shefali Shah and Jim Sarbh, were nominated for Best Actor, while Vir Das was nominated for a stand-up comedy special. Shefali has been nominated for her role as a cop in the Emmy-nominated series ‘Delhi Crime.’ Jim was nominated for his portrayal as Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha in the television series ‘Rocket Boys’. Vir was nominated for his Netflix comedy ‘Landing.’

Notably, Ektaa Kapoor will get an International Emmy Directorate Award for her contributions to television throughout the years. The International Emmy Awards will be hosted in New York City on November 20.

Shefali Shah was nominated for best actor performance for her work in ‘Delhi Crime’ Season 2. Notably, the first season was awarded the International Emmy for best drama series in 2020, marking India's first win in the category. Shefali stated in an official statement that she is at a loss for words to express her emotions. The actor described ‘Delhi Crime’ as a meaningful production and stated that being nominated is simply overwhelming. The actor is up against Connie Nielsen for the Danish show ‘Drommeren’, Billie Piper for the British show ‘I Hate Suzie Too’, and Karla Souza for the Mexican show ‘La Caida.’

Jim, who won the outstanding performance by an actor award for his portrayal of Dr. Homi Jehangir Baba, the Father of India's nuclear program, in ‘Rocket Boys’, said in a statement that he is "overwhelmed and excited" to be nominated. The actor expressed his gratitude and stated that being recognized is an honour. In discussing his time on the show, Jim stated that the nomination is confirmation of the Rocket Boys' team's hard work and dedication. The actor is nominated alongside Gustavo Bassani of ‘Iosi’, El Espia Arrepentido (Argentina), Martin Freeman of ‘The Responder’ (Britain), and Jonas Karlsson of ‘Nattryttarna’ (Sweden).

Vir Das has been nominated in the stand-up comedy special category alongside ‘Derry Girls’ season 3 from the United Kingdom, ‘El Encargado’ from Argentina, and ‘Le Flambeau’ season 2 from France.
