Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, known for his unique acting skills, his boy-next-door charm and his impeccable sense of style, is gearing up for the release of his next titled Jersey (2022). While the film was previously slated to release on April 14, it will now hit cinemas on 22 April, 2022.
In an exclusive interview with Bollywoodmdb.com, Shahid opened up about the delay. "It has been a long time. This film was supposed to release in December 2021... And now there's another week long delay. The wait has been long... I've put my heart and soul into this films and that's why it's very close to my heart. This is one story i wish to take to every viewer- so that it inspires them in the way it inspired me. Hence, the wait is worth it."
On asked why didn't Jersey go the OTT way for release, the actor said, "Jersey is a film with a soul. It conveys a message that needs a much bigger platform and OTT wouldn't have done justice to it."
The Ishq Vishk actor says that he believes in pushing the envelope with every performance of his. And Jersey has only elevated him as an actor.
"I've been around for a while and just to ensure that i don't turn 'boring' for the audiences, I'm always on a lookout for interesting characters. So that I can surprise people with every role and every film. I think that's where the challenge lies."
For starters, Jersey is a remake of the Telugu film of the same name featuring Nani and Shraddha Srinath. It is helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who had also directed the original.
Also starring Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor, Jersey will release on April 22, 2022.
