Hum chhup chhup ke Priyanka ko dekhte they: Kangana admits being in awe of her Fashion co-star

Kangana Ranaut, who debuted in Anurag Basu's Gangster (2005), has worked with many actresses in her career spanning 17 years. However, she has a special affection for former Miss World Priyanka Chopra Jonas, her co-star in Madhur Bhandarkar's 2008 film Fashion.

The Manikarnika (2019) actress was barely 19-20 when she worked alongside Priyanka, who was already a big star. Revealing that PeeCee was like an idol to her since modelling days, Kangana said in a previous interview, "I was starstruck by Priyanka Chopra as she was a superstar on the set. Even while modelling, we (she and other models) were in total awe of her. Hum log aise chhup chhup ke Priyanka ko dekhte they."

Adding further, Kangana said, "Priyanka is fabulous. When I was in school, that time I had been watching her films. And working with her was like a dream come true. On sets, I felt like she is a friend, who shared food with me and asked me questions like "how do I look?, is this ok?, how is this dress?" So I didn’t feel like she is my senior and she is such a big star. It was a nice feeling that she has that ability, it’s wonderful."

Noteworthy, Priyanka too has admitted publicly that she is extremely fond of Kangana and her acting style. Post Fashion, the two worked together again in Krrish 3 (2013), which became a blockbuster. However, Kangana apparently wasn't happy about her role in the film and the way it shaped up.

Coming to professional front, Kangana last appeared onscreen in the recently released Dhaakad (2022). The movie emerged as her eighth box office bomb in a row, with publications taking note of her waning popularity.

Ranaut will next portray an Indian Air Force pilot in Sarvesh Mewara's Tejas, Indira Gandhi in her second directorial project, Emergency and the Hindu goddess Sita in Alaukik Desai's The Incarnation: Sita. She will also produce the black comedy film Tiku Weds Sheru, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur.

On the other hand, Priyanka was last seen in a supporting role of Sati in The Matrix Resurrections, the fourth film in the franchise. She will next lead the romantic drama Text for You opposite Sam Heughan and Celine Dion. She will also star alongside Richard Madden in Amazon Prime Video's thriller series Citadel and as the spiritual guru Ma Anand Sheela in Barry Levinson's Sheela, a film she will produce for Amazon Studios.

The Barfi! (2012) actress has also committed to star alongside Mindy Kaling in a comedy about an Indian-American wedding under Universal Pictures and will also appear in the action film Cowboy Ninja Viking opposite Chris Pratt.

Back home in Bollywood, PeeCee will star in Farhan Akhtar's directorial Jee Le Zaraa alongside Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. The film is set for a release in 2023.
