Earlier today, a clip went viral which showed actor Nana Patekar slapping a fan in Varanasi. It was reported that the actor hit the fan who tired to take a selfie with him while he was shooting on the streets of Varanasi. It was followed by bashing from the netizens. A user said, "He could have easily said no. What was the need to slap that guy who just wanted a photo?"

Anil Sharma Reacts To Nana Patekar's Video:

Filmmaker Anil Sharma has stepped forward to set the record straight. According to a report by India Today, Sharma clarified that the controversial video is a snippet from his film "Journey." In this particular scene, shot in the bustling streets of Varanasi, a young boy approaches Nana for a photo, and the actor delivers a scripted smack to the back of his head. Sharma stated, “We were filming it on the road in the middle of Banaras, where a boy who comes near Nana has to be hit on the head. Shooting was going on, and Nana also hit him.”

Addressing the viral video, Sharma pleaded with fans to discern fact from fiction, emphasizing that Nana has not assaulted anyone. He explained, “Now, Nana is being projected as a negative and rude actor on social media, which is completely wrong...I would request that the fans understand the truth of this video. This is a shot from the film. Nana has not hit anyone.”

The 10-second clip in question captures Nana Patekar in a suave suit and hat, preparing for a scene while a fan approaches for a selfie. Following the apparent clash, a man nearby intervenes, grabbing the young man by the neck and escorting him away.

Anil Sharma, shedding light on the context of the scene, shared, "Patekar's character has dementia in the film. His mind is disturbed and a guy comes to click a picture with him. There are so many people around us, who are here to watch the shoot. I think someone clicked this particular portion, which is actually one of the scenes from the film."
