The UAE authorities detained Mumbai-based dancer and actress Chrisann Pereira at the start of April on suspicion of narcotics trafficking. The police detained the actress in Sharjah after discovering her in possession of narcotics at the airport.
According to Chrisann's family, she has been falsely accused and is innocent. “We have been through emotional torture in the last 2 weeks, my sister is innocent and has been framed in a drug racket,”
Now that Chrisann has been granted bail and is no longer in custody, her family may breathe a sigh of relief. Two individuals were also imprisoned by the Mumbai Crime Branch in connection with the drug trafficking case and for implicating the Bollywood star.
The two individuals charged are Rajesh Babhote alias Ravi, a native of Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district, and Anthony Paul, a resident of Mumbai's Borivali neighbourhood. The two guys allegedly concealed narcotics, according to the police, in the trophy Chrisann was holding.
Premila Pereira, Chrisann's mother, said that Paul intended to exact vengeance on her by implicating Chrisann in the drug smuggling case. He also used a similar framing technique on four other persons.
