In the third season of Bobby Deol’s Aashram (2022), Bollywood actress Esha Gupta delivered a standout performance. Her fans adore the fact that she has never shied away from displaying her striking beauty. The actress, who earlier disclosed that she had been told to get injections for a fairer skin tone, recently shared another incident of colourism in the entertainment industry. Esha recalled that a cosmetics company had sued her after she and her team decided not to endorse their products because they promoted skin lightening.
The Jannat 2 (2021) actress claimed that many Indians still hold to the idea of "white supremacy" and that fair girls are more attractive, which is also what we portray in our advertisements. The actor, however, made the decision that she would rather get sued than promote such products.
When asked if she had ever experienced insecurity because of her skin colour, Esha responded, "It happened with a brand contract once and it was actually my fault and that of my ex-agency. We did not read the contract properly, which said whitening and not brightening products. If I put cucumber on my face or eat the right food every day, the brightness of my face will make a difference. But the brand decided to sc**w me and sue me because I wasn't ready to endorse their skin whitening products.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Esha Gupta will reportedly be seen in the fourth season of the MX Player web series Aashram.
