Starring Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, 83 was one of the hotly anticipated films of 2021. After facing several setbacks, the film finally hit screens on December 24. However, it failed to garner the kind of commercial response everyone had thought it would.

With the Kabir Khan directorial failing terribly at the ticket window, Ranveer Singh has reportedly decided against playing real-life characters on celluloid for some time. No more biopics for the star, as per reports.

“Ranveer has been offered several biopics including Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Manekshaw film which he said no to. After Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani (2015), Padmaavat (2018), and now Kabir Khan’s 83, Ranveer will stay off real-life characters for a while,” a source in the know informs a publication.

After Singh said no to Meghna Gulzar’s biopic on Sam Manekshaw, the film went to Vicky Kaushal who readily accepted the offer. The film now also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra in lead roles.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is waiting for the release of Yash Raj Films’ Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. While Jayeshbhai Jordaar releases this year, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani will hit the marquee in 2023.
