Govinda's first lead role as an actor was in the movie Tan-Badan opposite Khushbu, directed by his uncle Anand. Although his first release was the film Ilzaam which came in 1986 and was a box office success, he gave another hit Love 86 which was released the same year. He worked on various genres of film between (1987-1989) like Khudgarz, Ghar Ghar ki Kahani, Hatya, and many more.
Rohit is currently busy with promotions for his upcoming film Cirkus. In a recent interview, when the filmmaker was asked to guess the highest grosser of 1993, then he instantly responded, and said, “Aankhen.” The film featured Govinda with Chunky Pandey and was directed by David Dhawan. Rohit then spoke about the film, and other movies of Govinda, and appreciated him for giving blockbusters for so many years.
Consistently for 10 years, Govinda gave blockbusters. He and David Dhawan gave Shola Aur Shabnam, Aankhen, Raja Babu, Jodi No 1, Coolie No 1, and Haseena Maan Jaayegi, which was a great success. In addition to this, he said that even with his 'back-to-back' hit films, Govinda 'didn't get his due' in Bollywood. Otherwise, he would have been the biggest superstar.
