Today, March 4, the Hindi film Jhund, starring Big B Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role, has been released in theatres. Directed by Sairat (2016) director Nagraj Manjule, the film is based on the life of Vijay Barse, a retired sports teacher who founded an NGO called Slum Soccer. He managed to rehabilitate street kids by keeping them off drugs and crime by turning them into soccer players and building a whole team.
Pan-Indian actor Dhanush was full of admiration for Nagraj Manjule’s film after watching it at a private screening. He praised the sports drama as a "masterpiece" and said he was lucky to have seen it. The Karnan (2021) actor said, "I don't know where to start. Mind-blown, simply mind-blown. Nagraj Manjule is a voice to be heard, a force to reckon with. I can say thousand technical things about this film that it's brilliant. At the end of the day, it's about the emotion that triumphs over everything else. It is an experience that everybody should go through. It is a masterpiece and this is going to make a lot of heads turn. I am very happy to have watched this film."
Dhanush continued, "I'm speechless. It's a mind-blowing film. Of course, Amit ji has done outstanding work. I am so happy for the entire team. Once again, I wanted to thank Nagraj Manjule for giving us a film like this."
Dhanush and Amitabh Bachchan shared screen space in the film Shamitabh, directed by R. Balki and released in 2015. Sunil Lulla, Balki, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, R. K. Damani, Amitabh Bachchan, and Abhishek Bachchan produced the film under their own production houses.
