Deepika Padukone on playing Alisha in Gehraiyaan
On February 11, Gehraiyaan (2022) premiered on Amazon Prime Video. The Shakun Batra directed film starred Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa in important roles. Critics and audiences gave the film mixed reviews and reactions. Deepika, on the other hand, was praised for her performance in the film. She portrayed Alisha, who is ambitious, messed up, complicated, vulnerable, and had a bad childhood. Deepika received a lot of support on social media. Some even referred to it as her best performance of her career.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, the actress shared a different still from the film. Deepika described the experience as "visceral and delicious," writing, "The response to Gehraiyaan has been dizzying to say the least!" As an artist, 'Alisha' has been my most visceral, indelible, and delicious experience. While I am ecstatic and overwhelmed, I am also grateful and humbled!"
Ranveer Singh also praised wife Deepika for her performance in the film. The actor captioned a photo he shared, "Tour de force Transcendent, superlative and sublime! What an absolute masterclass of a performance, baby! Such fine, nuanced and heartfelt artistry! … at your consummate and peerless best in this one! You make me so proud!"
Deepika has a slew of projects lined up, including the Hindi remake of The Intern, the Hrithik Roshan-starrer Fighter, and the untitled project of Nag Ashwin directorial.
