Actress Isha Koppikar, who has starred in a number of bollywood films like Fiza (2000), Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat (2001), Company (2002), Kaante (2002), Pinjar (2003), and Dil Ka Rishta (2003), was seen in an altogether different avatar in the recently released web series Dahanam (2022).

The dark-thriller is produced by Ram Gopal Varma, whom she calls her mentor. Isha features in the role of a policewoman, inspired by real-life cop Anjali Sinha.

"Dahanam is a dark crime thriller set in the interiors of Andhra Pradesh. I play a north Indian lady cop who's posted in the south. The show is all about disputes and power struggles centring on families, landlords and Naxalites. It deals with dark themes like vendetta, oppression and violence," says Isha about her second webseries.

Hailing the OTT platform, Isha says it's a great time to be an actor as the opportunities are vast. "As an actor, you're no longer restricted to the big screen. There are other mediums too where you can showcase your talent. Superstardom is now busted and everything is content-drive. People are more receptive to new ideas, which is great," she says.

While Isha has successfully explored different genres in bollywood, many feel that she never really got her dues. Commenting over this, the 36 China Town (2006) actress says, "Irrespective of the box office collection of my films, the critics have always been kind to me. They may have said that Isha was wasted in this film but till date they've never said that Isha hasn't performed well."

"My performances have always been appreciated and received critical acclaim. For me, this has been the most positive thing; knowing that people like me and expect so much more from me," she adds.

Moreover, for her fans, Isha has a special message. "You'll get to see me a lot more of me in the coming days. I have a couple of films and two webseries in the pipeline where I portray some very diverse characters," says the lovely actress.
