There has been tension between Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar. Everything came about as a result of what Kangana said in an interview about Javed Akhtar. Her conflict with Hrithik Roshan was a factor in it. Kangana reportedly remarked something similar to Akhtar's claim that she would have to kill herself. This single statement damaged Javed Akhtar's reputation, and after a few months the lyricist, screenwriter, and poet initiated a defamation lawsuit against the 'Emergency' actress. And in a recent interview, he finally disclosed the reason it took him so long to do so.
Javed Akhtar discusses his feelings of humiliation and pressure in an interview that is now making the rounds in the entertainment news. If people hadn't called him repeatedly, reminded him of the interview, and expressed their displeasure with the seasoned lyricist, he claims he would have completely forgotten about it. People in Lucknow called him and said they didn't anticipate this behaviour from him. The video was on YouTube, where it received millions of views. The topic was a disagreement with Hrithik Roshan.

Akhtar was obviously really upset by everything. He could have ignored it, but when he started getting calls and realised there would be no end to them, he felt compelled to file a complaint against the actress.
