Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya was granted bail on Thursday in a sexual harassment case by a magistrate's court in Mumbai. In February 2020, a police report was made against Acharya at the Amboli police station in the suburbs for allegedly assaulting an assistant choreographer.

Acharya, who has never been arrested in connection with the case, came before the magistrate's court and was given bail. The complainant claims that on January 26, 2020, while in Andheri for an event hosted by the Indian Film and Television Choreographers Association, Acharya and two other people assaulted her.

The woman claimed, among other things, that Ganesh had made her watch pornographic videos whenever she went to meet him at his office in 2009–2010. She also claimed that Acharya had victimised other women.

A case had been filed against the choreographer, who denied all of the allegations, under sections 354-A (sexual harassment), 354-C (watching or photographing a woman engaging in a private act), 354-D (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).

Early in the 1990s, Ganesh Acharya began his professional career working as Kamalji's assistant. He worked in his debut film Anaam in 1992, but it wasn't until 2001 that his work on the song Badi Mushkil from Lajja (2001) brought him widespread fame and acclaim.
