Ayushmann Khurrana has had a fascinating journey in the entertainment industry. Before making his silver screen debut in 2012 with Vicky Donor, Ayushmann rose to prominence in the television industry after winning the second season of the MTV show Roadies. The actor was able to break into the industry thanks to the reality show. While he chose to pursue a career as a radio jockey, he admits to having previously auditioned for television series.
Khurrana mentioned in an interview that he auditioned for a Balaji Television show. While he couldn't recall whether it was for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (2000) or Kasauti Zindagii Kay (2001), he did say that Pulkit Samrat was cast in the role.
He said, “It was a Balaji show, I do not remember the name. Perhaps it was either Kasautii Zindagii Kay or Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Pulkit Samrat did that role eventually. Actually, I had made it as an RJ by the time when I auditioned for the show. So I told my casting director ‘bro, I am going’. So I could not do that TV show.”
Pulkit made his acting debut with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, also starring Smriti Irani. In the popular series, he played Lakshya Virani. Ayushmann Khurrana was recently seen in Anubhav Sinha's Anek (2022), which was released in theaters on May 27.
