Reports are doing rounds that Ayan Mukerji has approached Jio Studios and not Dharma Production for his upcoming films ‘Brahmastra 2 & 3.

Ayan Mukerji is currently one of the biggest and most talented directors of Bollywood. With his larger-than-life film ‘Brahmastra’ he turned the pages of Indian cinema and brought new life on screen. Recently he announced his films Brahmastra Parts 2 and 3, and now it is being said that the filmmaker has left Dharma Productions and is collaborating with Jio Studios for a better and greater Universe.

‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’, a fantasy adventure film starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, was released in September 2022. The film finished with clues of Brahmastra Part 2: Dev and fuzzy glimpses of an actress as Shiva's mother, Amrita.

According to reports, original creators Dharma Productions and Disney decided to step away from the franchise and were willing to sell the rights to Ayan, who controlled a portion of it. So, he took over and proposed Jio Studios his Astra - Verse and the remaining two pieces.

"Ayan intends to produce Brahmastra Part 2: Dev and Brahmastra Part 3: Shiva v/s Dev for Jio Studios, which will be the deal's main attractions." Aside from the two pioneers, he plans to create spin-offs based on other Brahmastra characters in the form of web series and independent feature films, according to a source.

Ayan is also working on his Astra - Verse project with Nandi Astra, Pawan Astra, Gaj Astra, and Jal Astra. According to reports, only Jal Astra will be released on huge theatres, while the others will be released on digital displays. "If the deal goes through, it will be one of the most lucrative ever between a studio and a director." "Ayan will be the franchise's showrunner, but the spin-offs will be commissioned to other filmmakers," stated the insider.

Aside from that, an animated series for children is being prepared as part of a 10-year strategy to advance the business. Brahmastra Part 2: Dev will be released in December 2026, followed by Brahmastra Part 3: Dev Vs Shiva in December 2027. Ayan Mukerji is reportedly set to direct ‘War 2’ which will see Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR against each other.
