Starring Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Arshad Warsi, and Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles, Bachchhan Paandey was touted to be one of the biggest entertainers of 2022. Since Akshay Kumar’s films hardly fail to click with the audience, everyone was thinking his latest offering would also hit the jackpot at the box-office.
However, the film did not only receive mixed reviews from critics but the audience also rejected it within days of release. It could not even cross the 50-crore mark at the ticket window, emerging as an unsuccessful venture.
During a recent media interaction, Arshad Warsi admitted that Bachchan Paandey was not a success despite it being a good film. “It was a good film, but unfortunately it happened, some things work, some things don’t. I feel it just went through a bad patch. There were various things that made it not as successful as it should have been. It is a big film. It should have made a lot more money, but it is still not a loss, it covered its money,” the actor said.
When asked if Bachchan Paandey’s failure has anything to do with it not releasing on an OTT platform, Warsi said, “No, I don’t think it is the OTT effect. Okay, I have got an answer for that, but I am not going to say it. Let's not get into it, it is a different space.”
Arshad Warsi will next be seen in Asur 2 set to stream on Voot.
