Anurag Basu is one of the rare filmmakers who never softens his words. The director has lately made headlines because this year's famous Cannes Film Festival hosted the world premiere of his film Kennedy. Kashyap talked about the Indian studio closures and box office flops of the movie a few years ago.
Disney UTV shut down its filmmaking division a few years ago. Kashyap went into detail about why companies began to collapse and movies weren't doing well at the box office. He subtly urged everyone to guess and dropped a hint that our fraternity offers enormous fees.

Anurag Kashyap does not, however, attribute the high costs and commercial failures of his films to the actors' outrageous salaries. To read his intriguing perspective, scroll down.
Anurag Kashyap openly criticised Hindi film stars for getting overpaid in a 2016 interview with Cinestaan while promoting his movie Akira. However, the Kennedy director specifically attributed this behaviour to the studios.
Kashyap said, '“We had four Bollywood actors (Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan) in the Forbes highest-paid actors whereas the rest were Hollywood actors. Films starring the Hollywood actors earn in millions and billions, but ours earn a maximum max Rs300 crore. But still, there are Indian actors in that list. So if you see the ratio on the list, business of the film vs income of the actor, there is a huge disparity.” The director continued saying,“Actors from the industry where film earn Rs 300 crore is in the list and on the other hand, there are films which earn USD1.2 billion in other industries and the actors are even below our actors in the list. So I hope you got where the issue is.”
Not blaming the actors, however, The Gangs Of Wasseypur director adds , “I am not blaming the actors for this, all the blame should be passed on to the producers as they are ready to pay the actor such a high amount. Why wouldn’t the actor take that money? If someone pays me, even I would take that.”

Given that the majority of A-list stars in the business have increased their rates and demand unthinkable sums, including the five actors Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan, who reportedly demand 100 crores and more for their films, Anurag Kashyap may have a point here.
