Undoubtedly, one of the most important directors in Bollywood is Anurag Kashyap. He has supported independent voices and given newcomers a chance throughout his career. He has produced some truly intriguing films as a director. The 2012 two-part criminal drama ‘Gangs of Wasseypur,’ starring Manoj Bajpayee and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is one of them.

Kashyap was questioned about whether or not he believes Indian audiences connect with his films in an interview. In response, he asserted that box office and stars rule Bollywood. “Even theatre owners don’t give space (in the north). Today, people talk highly about Gangs of Wasseypur, but it was taken off cinemas in nine days because a big film like Ek Tha Tiger was coming. It wasn’t the decision of a star or a producer, it was the decision of the theatres. If that film had done a business of Rs 26 crore in nine days, it would have done more if it got space."

The paucity of movie theatres in India was then highlighted by Kashyap as one of the underlying causes of such occurrences. On June 22 and August 8, 2012, respectively, two portions of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ were released. On the other hand, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ was presented in theatres on August 15.

He also discussed his eagerly anticipated project starring Kriti Sanon in the same interview. He claimed to have completed the script's wiring and was just waiting to narrate it. Kriti has been waiting to hear the screenplay for three years, according to Kashyap. It was once said to be a legitimate remake of the Hollywood action film ‘Kill Bill.’ The filmmaker later denied these allegations.

In terms of acting, Kashyap co-stars with Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the criminal drama ‘Haddi.’ Zee5 is scheduled to air the movie on September 7. ‘Kennedy’, a film directed by Kashyap, had its world premiere at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone played the key roles.
