Anurag Kashyap is a renowned filmmaker who has always been vocal about the issues faced by the Indian film industry. He recently talked about the 2021 film 'Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui', which tells the story of a guy falling in love with a trans woman.
Kashyap said that the film was a great one and that Vaani Kapoor gave a brilliant performance. However, he also pointed out that the film did not do well at the box office because the audience was not receptive to the subject matter. He said that people get uncomfortable watching films that deal with sensitive topics, such as gender identity.
Kashyap also talked about his own experiences of working with stars. He said that he used to succumb to the pressure of working with big names, but he realized that it was not the right way to make films. He now prefers to work with newcomers and to tell stories that are not afraid to challenge the status quo.
