Anshuman Jha received the Best Actor nomination at the HBO-sponsored South Asian International Film Festival in New York for his sincere portrayal of an animal vigilante. This honour was given to the movie that had its world debut during the festival. The film, which is the first of its kind to be produced in India, is directed by Victor Mukherjee and features slick Krav Maga-inspired action sequences about a vigilante animal lover. Ridhi Dogra, Milind Soman, and Paresh Pahuja are also featured in the movie.

ANSHUMAN SPEECH AFTER RECEIVING THE AWARD

Anshuman expressed his gratitude to HBO, “ I'm incredibly appreciative that HBO and the South Asian International Picture Festival, New York, thought "Lakadbaggha" (Hyena) was deserving of being the festival's opening film and that my character Arjun Bakshi was deserving of the Best Actor prize. Since it was announced after Irfan Sir's birthday, I dedicate this award to him. I'd like to congratulate Sayani on winning best female actor as well. And I apologise for my delayed response; I was too busy promoting Lakadbaggha to get their formal mail. I'm glad they called and reached out. Now I'm motivated to train even harder for Lakadbaggha-Chapter 2. The sequel will indeed begin filming in September 2023.

ABOUT LAKADBHAGGHA

Lakadbaggha (hyena), which is set in Kolkata, follows Arjun (Anshuman Jha), a recluse who by day teaches martial arts to kids and at night transforms into a protector of the street dogs who are utilised in the drug and meat trades. The government dispatches crime branch officer Akshara (Riddhi Dogra) to track down the hooded vigilante whose name is unknown as his deeds gain attention on social media. Because of a previous occurrence, Akshara and her brother (Paresh Pahuja) despise animals, but as the case develops, Akshara and Arjun get closer. When Arjun learns that Akshara's brother is running a shadowy animal trading organisation that deals in hyenas, things take an intriguing turn.
