An official said on Wednesday that a Mumbai police constable, who worked as a bodyguard for megastar Amitabh Bachchan until August 2021, has been suspended for alleged misconduct and breach of service norms.

The constable, Jitendra Shinde, was suspended on Tuesday, and a departmental investigation has been filed against him, he added.

Shinde was previously assigned to the Mumbai Police Department's protection and security division.

He worked as Amitabh Bachchan's bodyguard from 2015 to August 2021, when he was suspended by Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale after it was revealed that his annual earnings were alleged to the tune of ₹1.5 crore.

Shinde was assigned to the DB Mar police station in Mumbai after August 2021.

When asked why Shinde was suspended, a senior Mumbai Police official stated that the constable had travelled to Dubai and Singapore at least four times without informing his superiors.

He stated that he should have requested permission from his superiors to travel abroad in accordance with service rules.

Shinde also formed a security service in his wife's name, which provided security to the Bachchan family, but the fees transactions were shown in his bank account rather than his wife's, according to the official.

Shinde had also purchased several properties, which he had not disclosed, he continued.
