Alia Bhatt is presently riding high on the huge success of her latest release Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022). The film, which had its theatrical bow on February 25, has been performing tremendously well at the ticket counter and has already racked up a whopping ₹ 39.12 crore within 3 days of its release.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is a Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial. And it is no secret that every actress wants to work with the maverick filmmaker someday. Bhatt also wanted to team up with him since the beginning of her career and with Gangubai Kathiawadi, she finally landed the opportunity.

When a publication asked her how does it feel to be the heroine of SLB, the talented actress said, “I think when you are talking about Sir’s list of actors and actresses that he has worked with, you see an Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukerji, Deepika Padukone, and then comes my name, a part of this illustrious list. I think the young girl in me just needs to pinch herself just to accept and believe that okay, I made it to this list and my journey has been worth Sir’s while that I am a part of his film and that’s overwhelming.”

Also featuring Ajay Devgn, Shantanu Maheshwari, and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles, Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on a chapter from the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, written by S. Hussain Zaidi.
