On Tuesday, June 21, the trailer for the Akshay Kumar starrer Raksha Bandhan was unveiled. The Samrat Prithviraj (2022) actor plays an older brother to four sisters in the film. The actor was in Delhi for the launch of the trailer. Speaking to the media, he opened up on the box office clash between Raksha Bandhan and Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha.
On August 11, Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan, which also stars Bhumi Pednekar, directed by Aanand L Rai, will be released. The same day will also see the release of Laal Singh Chaddha starring Aamir Khan.
Akshay replied when asked about his movie clashing with Aamir's, saying, "It is not a clash, it is about two good movies coming together, and also it's a festive weekend. Also, because of COVID-19, many movies did not get released. There are so many movies that are still waiting to be released in theatres."
"Two movies releasing in the same week is natural, so I wouldn't say we are clashing, we are trying to bring out films to the people. I hope both the films have a good run," Kumar adds, hoping both films do well at the box office.
The story of Raksha Bandhan centres around Raju (Akshay), a sweetshop owner who is trying to arrange the marriages of his four younger sisters. The on-screen sisters of Kumar are played by Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, and Smrithi Srikanth in the film.On August 11, both Raksha Bandhan and Laal Singh Chaddha will be in theatres.
