The idea of renaming India as Bharat has generated a lot of discussion. In one of his tweets, Amitabh Bachchan purportedly applauded the decision. Akshay Kumar went on to demonstrate his support by renaming his next film ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue.’ But remember when the actor broke his silence on religious controversies and stated that he simply believes in being a nationalist?

Despite the criticism, Akshay has never stopped working on causes he believes in. Whether it was ‘Laxmii’ with its initial title, 'Laxmmi Bomb,' or OMG and its idea of s*x education, there was always some sort of takeaway for viewers.

In his 2021 film ‘Sooryavanshi,’ one of his phrases that said he doesn't believe in any religion but is solely Indian caused quite a stir. In response to this, Akshay Kumar informed, “I don’t believe in any religion. I only believe in being Indian and that is what the film also shows. The idea of being an Indian and not about being a Parsi or a Hindu or a Muslim, we haven’t looked at it on the basis of the religion.”

Akshay Kumar said that there was no purpose of portraying any religion as 'villainous' in ‘Sooryavanshi.’

"We make films with both negative and positive roles; I'm just a character. In any film, there will be both good and evil characters; the audience is wise enough to discern which characters to remember - the good or the bad," he continued.
