The cringe-worthy phrases used in the Prabhas and Kriti Sanon-starring epic 'Adipurush' caused a huge controversy. The viewers complained to the producers about how they had disrespected religion.
The film directed by Om Raut made Rs 340 crores of rupees on its first day worldwide, despite all the controversy. But according to industry insiders, it was enormous since many had already reserved seats in advance before the evaluations were published and the bad press spread like wildfire.
But despite a strong opening weekend, the film fell short of passing the Monday test, which is essential for any film since it reveals the true state of affairs following the hype storm. 'Adipurush's box office performance plummeted, earning only Rs 7.7 crores on Monday. The Hindi release of the Prabhas and Kriti Sanon movie saw a 78% decline in box office revenue.
As a result of the criticism, author Manoj Muntashir issued a statement saying that he would respect the opinions of the viewers and change the dialogue in the film. According to reports, the edits have been made, and the audience can view the film with the dialogues changed.
Akshaye Rathi, a prominent trade analyst, expressed his prediction for the movie's performance in the coming days.
He said, “I don't think it brings the collection back on track or does anything of the sort. But I think at least going ahead with the kind of verbal and opposing reactions that were coming in very publicly hopefully both should be subsided. And I truly hope that this would pacify the people who are protesting and make them realize that the filmmakers are respecting the verdict of the audience, the say of the devotees of Mariyada Puroshotam Prabhu Shri Ram, and taking corrective action as required and sensitive to the situation.”
