The Kerala High Court has stated that it is ready to drop criminal proceedings against actress Sunny Leone, her husband Daniel Weber, and her staff in a cheating case. It was said orally that there appeared to be no criminal violation made out against Sunny and that she was being harassed unduly. "What is the crime here? You are unnecessarily harassing the individual (Sunny). I'm inclined to dismiss this, "The bench remarked.
On November 16, 2022, the court delayed criminal proceedings against three people after a case was filed against them for cheating on a complaint by a Kerala-based event manager who claimed that Sunny, despite being paid millions of rupees to appear and play at events, did not show up. Sunny and the others petitioned the High Court, arguing they are innocent and that even if the charges are taken at face value, the accused offences would not be attracted.
According to their petition, the complaint has not suffered any losses as a result of the petitioners, but the matter has harmed the petitioners' lives. As a result, they petitioned the High Court to have the proceedings against them quashed.
