Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan Movie Review Rating: 3/5

Superstar Salman Khan is synonymous with Eid. Though some of his Eid releases in the past did not perform as per expectations, there is a palpable excitement around his latest film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which enters theatres today. Originally titled Bhaijaan, the lavishly mounted family entertainer boasts an impressive cast. Khan has brought together some popular faces from the South Indian film industry and the television industry to offer an out-and-out family film. There are various attractions in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, but are they enough to attract audiences to cinemas? Our BollywoodMDB reviewer has seen the film, and here is what he has to say.

STORY: Bhaijaan (Salman Khan) has decided to stay single forever so that he can take care of his three younger brothers – Love (Siddharth Nigam), Ishq (Raghav Juyal), and Moh (Jassie Gill). He feels that if he marries, the girl can cause trouble in his unshakable bond with his young brothers. However, his brothers fall in love but they cannot marry because their elder brother is still single. On the other hand, Bhagya (Pooja Hegde) falls for Bhaijaan. Now, the three brothers try everything possible to convince Bhaijaan to get married. What happens next forms the crux of the story.

HIGHS & LOWS: Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is a remake of the Tamil film Veeram. In case you have not seen the original film, the remake will entertain you more despite the fact that it lacks logic at several points. It is still a very enjoyable family film if we keep aside some cringe-worthy dialogue and a couple of forced comedy scenes that fail to elicit any laughter. The film is mounted on a lavish scale and that shows on the screen in every scene. There are some well-choreographed action sequences in the film that make your jaw drop in awe.

Talking about performances, no prize for guessing that Salman Khan takes the centre stage. The actor has always entertained audiences in family-oriented films and he succeeds one more time in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Khan delivers what is expected from him in such outings.

Though there are truckloads of actors in the film, surprisingly everyone gets a chance to showcase their caliber. The credit goes to writer-director Farhad Samji who has written a well-balanced film. Pooja Hegde shines in her character. Though she seems a bit uncomfortable in romantic scenes with Khan, most probably because of the huge age gap between both actors, she performs really well otherwise. Jassie Gill, Raghav Juyal, and Siddharth Nigam do complete justice to their characters. Venkatesh is also terrific in his part and so are Rohini Hattangadi and Bhumika Chawla. Watching Satish Kaushik on screen, weeks after his death may bring some tears to your eyes.

If you want to watch the film solely for Salman Khan, then there is nothing stopping you. The film has over a dozen actors who also manage to tug at your heartstrings. You can watch the film for them as well. And of course, for its grandeur and richness. Music is another highlight of the film. Songs like “Naiyo Lagda” and “Billi Billi” really stand out.

FINAL VERDICT: Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan has some flaws but it still works well for every segment of the audience. Having said that, if you are a diehard Salman Khan fan, it won’t disappoint you at all. The best thing about the film is its music and production value. I am going with 3 stars.
