Khuda Haafiz Chapter 2 Movie Review Rating: 4/5

Khuda Haafiz Chapter 1 premiered on Disney+ Hotstar in the thick of the pandemic in 2020. A majority of people thought it was just another film landing on an OTT platform as theatres continued to remain shut across the country. However, Khuda Haafiz Chapter 1 surprised everyone with its performance on Disney+ Hotstar. The film received glowing reviews from critics and a couple of celebrities also heaped praises on it, including superstar Hrithik Roshan. Weeks after the premiere of the film, the makers announced its sequel Khuda Haafiz Chapter 2, which hit theatres today. Our BollywoodMDB reviewer has seen the film and here is what he has to say about the new Vidyut Jammwal starrer.

STORY: After saving his wife Nargis (Shivaleeka Oberoi) from the flesh trade in Noman, Sameer Chaudhary (Vidyut Jammwal) is living a simple and peaceful life in Lucknow. They have adopted a beautiful daughter Nandini. But their idyllic world does not remain so for long as Nandini along with one more girl, while returning from school, is kidnapped by the henchmen of a landlady. Sameer, who took on the entire flesh trade to save his wife years ago, sets out to save his daughter at any cost but tragedy befalls the couple one more time. What happens next forms the crux of the story.

HIGHS: We have mostly seen that sequels fail to match the brilliance of their predecessors. There are very few sequels that could entertain the audience as much as their first installment did. But that observation fails here with Khuda Haafiz Chapter 2, as the sequel to Khuda Haafiz Chapter 1 is not only bigger than its predecessor but also better in every sense, be it the storyline, execution, or the terrific performances from the cast.

Talking about performances, Vidyut Jammwal is on fire yet again. He never disappoints when it comes to carrying a high-octane actioner on his shoulders, and his newest film proves nobody can pull off action and emotions with as much ease as he does. He plays a husband and a father with an appetite for revenge. He is the backbone of the film, ably supported by other cast members, including Shivaleeka Oberoi, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Sheeba Chaddha, and Rajesh Tailang. There are a couple of perfectly fleshed-out emotional scenes between Jammwal and Oberoi. You can feel a lump forming in your throat while watching them. You better keep a packet of tissue paper handy as you are going to need them more often.

Coming to Shivaleeka Oberoi, well, she surprises with her sterling performance, especially in all the emotional scenes where you just cannot keep your eyes off her face. She reveals her character’s reservoirs of pain and fears so beautifully with her eyes. I hope to see her more often on screen in exciting projects.

Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Sheeba Chaddha, and Rajesh Tailang play their parts with utmost honesty and leave a mark with their performances. All the hard work from the talented cast elevates the film and makes it more enjoyable.

Director Faruk Kabir, who helmed the first part as well, strikes a perfect balance between emotions and action. He gets the best out of his team and offers a film that can be enjoyed again and again.

LOWS: When there is Vidyut Jammwal fronting a film, his fans expect action to start from the very first scene. There is ample action in Khuda Haafiz Chapter 2, but most of it comes in the second half of the film as the first half focuses on how the family is trying to move on from what happened to Nargis in Noman and put pieces of their lives together. But if you like action and emotions blended well together in a film, you are in for a treat.

FINAL VERDICT: If you thought sequels can never be better than originals, Khuda Haafiz Chapter 2 will entirely change your perception. It is far better than its predecessor in every sense. Be it action, emotions, or drama, the makers have tried to take things to the next level in every department and have succeeded. It is a tense, tightly constructed action thriller with never a dull moment. I am going with 4 stars.
