Ganapath Movie Review Rating: 3.5/5

Filmmaker Vikash Bahl returns to cinemas with his new film Ganapath: A Hero Is Born, featuring Tiger Shroff, Kriti Sanon, and Amitabh Bachchan in principal roles. Known for helming such successful films as Queen (2014) and Super 30 (2019) in the past, Bahl experiments with a new genre in Ganapath. The film is set in a dystopian world in 2070 AD and had created a lot of excitement among the audience before its release. But does Bahl succeed in making a film convincing enough for an audience that got exposed to a lot of such sci-fi, dystopian films during the pandemic era and before? Let’s find out. Our BollywoodMDB reviewer has seen the film and here is what he has to say about the same. Do read the detailed review of Ganapath only on BollywoodMDB before booking your tickets.

STORY: Ganapath a.k.a Guddu (Tiger Shroff) works for John English (Ziad Bakri) and identifies the best fighters for the latter. One day, John asks Guddu to take his girlfriend Rosie to the club. Rosie tries to get intimate with Guddu and when John gets to know this, he buries both of them alive but Guddu survives. Soon he realises that he was born to lead a revolution, and his journey from Guddu to Ganapath forms the plot.

HIGHS & LOWS: If we talk about the basic storyline of the film, there is no novelty. Filmmaker Vikas Bahl, however, tries to make the film look fresh and different to the audience with the help of VFX. The VFX and CGI of the film is its major highlight. It keeps you invested with its scale and magnificence.

Talking about performances, Tiger Shroff once again proves his mettle as an action star. It’s no secret that he always chooses projects which boast of loads of action because that is his forte. There are several well-choreographed action sequences in the film and Shroff nails each one of them. He impresses with his dance moves as well. However, when it comes to dialogue delivery, he still struggles at times. Kriti Sanon, as Jassi, a lone warrior, is excellent. Right from showcasing her action avatar to delivering some of the emotional scenes with panache, the National Award-winning actress delivers a great performance. Her chemistry with Shroff is undoubtedly bang on. Amitabh Bachchan as the wise elder Dalapati, the Maharishi, is impressive in his cameo appearance. One wonders why was not he given a proper screen time. Ziad Bakri as the evil John the Englishman and Rahman as Shiva are good. The music of the film could have been better.

FINAL VERDICT: On the whole, Ganapath is a mass entertainer, which keeps you invested throughout its runtime and entertains you abundantly. The film will appeal a lot to children and younger generation. That is where a large chunk of Shroff’s fanbase lies. I am going with 3.5 stars.
